The initial flow distribution for the ring truck line is the basis for the initial selection of pipe diameter in the design of heating network. There are many initial flow distribution methods that can meet the principle of node mass conservation, and different flow distribution methods have different initial investment. In this paper, the minimum initial investment is taken as the objective function, the conservation of node mass and the lower limit of flow are taken as the constraints, the optimization model of pipe flow is constructed, and the reduced gradient method is used to solve it. The example shows that when the minimum flow of the pipe section is 29 t/h, the initial flow distribution result of the minimum initial investment method is 5.15% less than that of the minimum square sum method, and the initial flow distribution result of the minimum initial investment method is constrained by the lower limit of flow.
